Using our work on verbs and vocabulary, we can now begin to construct simple sentences that can be used in conversation and writing.
How to create a simple sentence
First of all take a subject pronoun (pronoms sujet) that applies to the thing you want to say. Remember the subject pronouns in French are: Je, tu, il/elle/on, nous, vous and ils/elles.
Next, choose the appropriate verbs that represents the action that you are describing and conjugate it so it fits with the subject pronoun you just chose.
After add "the". "The" takes on 3 different forms in French, when it comes before a masculin word it is "le", before a feminine word it is "la" and before a masculine or feminine word that is plural it
is "les".
Finally you need to chose a vocabulary word that fits with the type of "the" you added and also relates back to the verb you picked.
So the formula is: Subject pronoun + conjugated verb + appropriate "the" + vocabulary word
Example
I like football (soccer)
Subject pronoun = je
Conjugated verb = aime (aimer)
Appropriate "the" = le (masculine)
Vocabulary word = Foot
J'aime le foot.
